Our Story

TDFT, Non-Profit Organization

History of the “idea” for TDFT goes back to the year 2001 when the former employees of Church Development Office decided to expand its program in Tabora Region. Main CSOs working in Tabora by then were WaterAid, CHAWATA, Health Project Abroad. Like many other CSOs in Tanzania most of CSOs are constrained with a lot of problems just to name a few: As TDFT was starting then it come in with a clear understanding that “expansion is one thing, but a sufficient absorption capacity is another thing.”

Goals and objectives

Goals and objectives The main objective of the organization remains that of supplementing self-help initiatives of the urban and rural people to improve their standard of living. TDFT currently plays the role of catalyzing the voluntary formation of both urban and rural-based self-help groups organized around social service projects. TDFT address a range of urgent development issues, which have been formulated into the different implemented programs.”

Legal Status About TDFT

TDFT is a non-profit making organization registered under the Trustee Incorporation Ordinance, 1956 Cap. No.18. and complies with NGOs Act of 2002. TDFT changed its name from Tabora to Tanzania Development Foundation Trust in July 2021 with registration Number 2280.

Dick L. Mlimuka is the Executive Director and founder of Tanzania Development Foundation Trust (TDFT), He started the NGO in 2001 pioneering holistic transformation of the NGO Group to deal with different projects while meeting donors and community expectations.

TDFT's past experiences and implemented projects/ PROJECTS

TDFT for the last twenty-two years has implemented several programs in a bid to achieve the stipulated mission and vision. The program includes other cross-cutting issues such as HIV & AIDS (Health), Gender, Water & Sanitation improvement, Education, Child rights/Child Labour, Economic Strengthening and Networking.
